Included in Etsy Treasury called: "SPANGLISH, Go Team!"

One of my team members from the Etsy Spanglish Team, Ana Diaz of Ana Diaz Arte, has put together a fabulous Etsy Treasury called SPANGLISH! She has curated items from fellow team members. Ana included my Siesta Tray in this fabulous group of talented artists and crafts people.

Take a look at the Spanglish Treasury here:

SPANGLISH TREASURY

It will be posted for the next two days - until Saturday at 12:42am. The date and time the Treasury disappears forever is listed on the bottom of each Treasury - just in case you were wondering how I have this very specific time! Please take a look until then and leave comments about the Treasury. Comments are always appreciated!

If you'd like to take a look at my Siesta Tray for more detailed photos (big hint) please look here:

BLACK is the new BLACK!

Sat in front of my computer for a few minutes and was able to grab a slot for an Etsy Treasury. Ah the mysteries of creating one. A lot of patience is involved.

I titled this T. BLACK is the new BLACK. Once upon a time when black was THE color to wear someone coined the phrase for the next hot color (say red), RED is the new black. Each year some new fashion color was the new black. Well honestly, in my closet, from my shoes, clothes to accessories, black never went out. I don't really care whether its IN or OUTT! I just like wearing black. My hair is black right now too - at least when I can keep up with the color!

Here's the link to the Treasury:

Sweet Blossoms - new Treasury I created on Etsy!

I love when spring time in San Francisco starts to hint at arriving. The blossoms from various trees begin to bud and you see beautiful pink petals peeking out from their buds. It seems to happen all over town. I love this tease before Springtime actually arrives.

When I put this Etsy Treasury together, I had already seen some of the blossoms around town. I thought I would try to mimic what I saw in the treasury I put together. Hope you enjoy it!

Cemetery in Half Moon Bay

Spent a few days south of San Francisco in Half Moon Bay. Stayed in a hotel on the cliffs above the ocean. How relaxing to sleep to the sounds of the ocean waves and wake up to the fresh ocean breezes. Took lots of pictures - because I love to! In the two days we were there, the ocean was both calm and wild. Amazing to see the change from the waves lapping the shoreline to pounding, crashing waves spraying clouds of water everywhere. I guess people aren't the only ones who express a variety of emotions.

UPCYCLED ALUMINUM TRAY - handpainted

UPCYCLED ALUMINUM TRAY - handpainted

Have some new work that is almost completed. Been doing a lot with image transfers on canvas and then hand painting all details. So far I've been fairly happy with the results. Some items need some touch ups and finishing but I've made some good progress. I love to work on canvas and often feel like I don't give myself enough time to do so. My sales on etsy tend to be more jewelry, home and personal accessories. Art is so much more difficult to sell. Even so, I so enjoy creating on canvas. I think I'm going to make a promise to myself to allow myself more time painting, doing mixed media on canvas. It just makes me happy!

NEW ETSY Treasury I created called "Let's Dance!"

I love to create Etsy Treasuries whenever I can. I had decided on doing a "T" on dancing a while ago. Saved a folder with the work of 12 (including myself) etsy artists until I was at the computer at the right time when Etsy was accepting new Treasury ideas. Well I got online at the right time today and here it is!

Someday I'll explain the whole process for curating and uploading an Etsy Treasury. Right now, I am just too tired from the I Heart my Valentines Sale I did yesterday at the Madrone Bar. I'm happy to say I made some sales! Yes indeed. I also made some new friends. Nuria Zamudio, a woman originally from Barcelona (on my left) who makes wonderful, interesting jewelry and Jenny Kim, a metalsmith who makes the most wonderful sterling silver jewelry on my right. Both women were just wonderful to meet and made my day go by so quickly. The Madrone Bar was a fabulous place to do a sale with wonderful ambiance and welcoming staff. Loved it.

Now I just need today to recover!!

Leo turns 5!

I have a grandson, Leo. He just turned 5 years old. He is adorable. When I want to be the biggest cynic in the universe, he makes me look at life as something sweet and exciting. He loves to look at a book I have with photos of dogs with their owners from the early 20th centuries. He always says the bulldog is his favorite - just like his Daddy. He loves to go through our I Spy books. These books once belonged to his Daddy, Mario and my daughter Gaby. We go through as many pages as we can get through and he always sees things first. I always tell him, "you're good!" and he always agrees with me. My eyes are usually crossed by the time we finish our searches through I Spy.

So, with Leo's birthday party, he had a bunch of his friends from the complex he lives in attend. So many adorable kids. All running around the courtyard and play structures with complete abandon. No worries other than to run, scream and laugh. Oh there's always tears too when you've had too much fun and are just too tired but that comes later.

There was a Spiderman pinata at the party that my son and daughter provided for the kids. This provided so much excitement. The kids lined up for their turn and were just shaking with excitement. Big smiles and lots of jumping up and down. It gets pretty basic what your needs are when a kid: lots of love, food and a great pinata!

After living through the hustle and bustle of selling my work during the holiday season, its a real pleasure to take my little Canon digital camera out with me. I always forget what a beautiful city I live in. San Francisco is gorgeous when its sunny, cloudy and rainy. I had to run a few errands last week and these are a few of my most favorite shots I took.

Happy February 1st!
